Congratulations to ICN Ventures, Inc., customer Data Supplies Inc.(DSI), whose corporate office is in Duluth, Georgia, for receiving Honorable Mention in the 2004 Printing Innovation with Xerox Imaging Awards.

ICN Ventures, Inc. provides web development and support for DSI, including the web interface and back-end interfaces to PageFlex--DSI's variable printing design interface.

This honorable mention, which DSI has received for the third consecutive year, was for their Kennesaw State University (KSU) project.  KSU, a university in the Metro-Atlanta, Georgia, area worked with DSI and ICN Ventures to develop a system to create customized, printed school information brochures for prospective students.

On the KSU website, a student can submit a name, address and email address, along with what major and extra-curricular activity they are interested in.  This information is transferred electronically to a web interface at DSI, developed by ICN Ventures, Inc., where it is submitted to PageFlex's MPower server. 

Based on the information provided by the student, a customized PDF is generated with the student's name and specific information about the major, extra-curricular activity, and type of student they selected.  Different photos appear in the brochure depending on the student's ethnicity, major and extra-curricular activity.

This automated system then sends the student an email with a link to their customized PDF.  The whole process takes less than 2 minutes from the time the student hits the submit button until their customized PDF is waiting in their InBox.

Another process batches the customized brochures for printing on DSI's IGen print system.  Printed brochures are mailed to students within 4 - 5 days. 

ICN Ventures, Inc., working with DSI and KSU, developed this system which receives posted student data in XML format, translates and validates the data, stores it in an Microsoft SQL Server database, posts the data to a VB Script/ASP page that then posts the data to PageFlex's MPower Server.  Once the PDF is generated, a script creates an email message that is sent to the student with a link to their customized PDF.
